3-Day Jeep Tour with Camping

Day one: the northern landmarks, then camp under the castles

Pickup is at 09:00 from your hotel and the tour officially starts at 09:30 from the Go-Mangystau office in Aktau — one of the few listings in the region that publishes a departure time at all.

The first day runs Torysh, the Valley of Balls; Kokala, described in the listing as Jurassic clays, a purple gorge of ancient sediments; Sherkala, the Sphinx of Mangystau with its yurt-shaped profile; and Airakty, the castle-shaped mountains where you camp for the night. Lunch and dinner are cooked for you.

Day two: Bozzhyra, and a camp on the rim

The second day is given to Bozzhyra. First the Crest, the towering formation that defines the skyline there, then the Mars Panorama — chalk cliffs and red hues that reviewers and geologists alike reach for the same comparison to describe.

Camp that night is on the rim above Bozzhyra canyon. That single decision is what separates this itinerary from the day-trip logic that governs most of the region: no drive out, no drive back in, just the canyon changing colour through the evening and again at dawn. The plateau is dark enough for astrophotography — light pollution is effectively absent out here.

Day three: the Fangs at first light, then Bokty and Tiramisu

The morning climb is to the Bozjyra Fangs, the two limestone spires that appear on every photograph of the region. Then Bokty Mountain — 165 m tall from a base 8 m above sea level, the mountain on the 1000 tenge banknote — and finally Tiramisu Canyon at Kyzylkup, where white chalk layers alternate with red bands stained by iron.

Breakfast and lunch are included on the final day; dinner is not, because you are back in Aktau by then.

The price line is the thing to read first

$910, per group up to 1. Every other listing we compare covers three or four people for its price; this one covers one. A solo traveller pays $910 and there is no listed way to bring the cost down by adding companions.

That makes it, per person per day, the most expensive trip on this site — roughly $303 a day against about $140 a day for the 2-day yurt tour with three sharing. It does not make it a bad trip. It makes it a trip you should book knowing exactly what you are paying for: a private jeep, a driver, and camping on the Bozzhyra rim, for one person.

If you are two or three travelling together, ask the operator through the platform what a second and third passenger cost before you book. The listing does not publish that figure.

The guide language, and what the reviews reveal about it

The listing shows a live tour guide in Kazakh only, and states that guide services can be ordered after booking as an additional service, alongside drone shooting and vegetarian meals.

Read the reviews with that in mind. Travellers praise the driving, the food, the camp and the attentiveness — Theresa from the United States, August 2026, called her driver Abel "very patient, helpful, and attentive" and noted he helped guide her through the trails. What almost nobody writes about is what they learned about the landscape. If you want the geology and the history narrated in English, budget for the add-on.

The sub-scores say what the headline number hides

4.7 overall breaks down as guide 5.0, transportation 5.0 and value for money 4.6. Value is the weakest category, which is consistent with a price that covers a single traveller.

Twenty-four reviews is still the deepest sample of any Mangystau listing we compare — the next best is five. If review depth is what you weigh most heavily, this is the listing with an actual track record.

Book it if

You are travelling alone, you want the canyon at sunrise without a pre-dawn drive, and a track record matters more to you than the per-person figure. Photographers in particular get value here that the spreadsheet does not show: two nights out, one of them on the rim.
